Sally & Sammy finished 47th out of more than 160 vehicles in the Rally Aicha des Gazelles driving an Amarok for Volkswagon.
An extreme female-only rally 2,500km across the dunes of Morocco, the Gazelles entry and infrastructure money finances a medical caravan that tends to people in the rural outreaches of Morocco. This is the only rally to have obtained ISO14001:2004 Environmental Management Certification. Initially conceived to dispel prejudice against women in the region, the rally has matured into a strongly contested event. King Mohammed VI was made patron of the 2010 event in acknowledgement of the family code, the Mudwana, he created during his 10 years of rulership. Sally covers vehicle design and sustainable transport technologies in print and on air for Fairfax Media, Curve Industrial Design magazine, Virgin's Voyeur inflight magazine, Qantas Australian Way inflight magazine and Wheels magazine Sally also judged on ABC TV's New Inventors, specializing in building and vehicle innovations, until the show closed in 2011.

Driving Mercedes B-Class F-Cell from Beijing to Xi'an
Using her new Chinese drivers license Sally has just driven three days from Beijing to Xi'an in Mercedes' hydrogen electric B-Class on one leg of the F-Cell 125 day around the world tour. Read about her encounters with the locals and their infrastructure in Fairfax newspapers and in her blog.
