Stay tuned to Sally's blog for insight into some of the engaging speakers from December's Humanitarian Engineers Conference sponsored by Engineers Australia and Engineers Without Borders Australia.
Sally judged and MC'd the Robogals Science Challenge in Melbourne December 2011. The Robogals Science Challenge is a terrific initiative aimed at encouraging girls to explore and document their science experiments. Sally has vowed that next year's trophies will be shaped like robots and made from recycled plastic.
"inspiring, very entertaining and a perfect fit for the occasion" Lisa Vincent, Director of Savv-e Pty Ltd March 2011
Inventor, Writer, Advocate for Innovation
Fifteen years practicing architecture plus her significant international accomplishments in product design place Sally Dominguez squarely at the forefront of sustainable invention and 'green' materials and building design innovation. Sally is a judge on ABC TV's The New Inventors and a multi-award-winning product designer. She is one of the few female Australian inventors who have seen multiple products through from conception to production and market - she knows and articulates the "learning cliff" for commercializing inventions that are ahead of the curve. Sally also reviews cars and writes on design and vehicle innovations for Fairfax Media.

feedback from Green Cities 2011 on www.thefifthestate.com.au
"In the final session, Extreme Green, a panel of judges looked at some innovative inventions by some up-and-coming young designers and inventors. The session, led by ABC TV’s New Inventors judge Sally Dominguez, who brought some pizzaz to proceedings over the two days, was informative and entertaining."

As a Friend of Australia Sally integrates her Australian experiences with much of her teaching and presentation work.
Sally graduated with a degree in architecture from the University of Sydney and designed and built over 18 passive solar houses before designing her award-winning Nest highchair in 2003. Her accomplishments now include five major international product design awards and five years of professional judging, including ABC TV's The New Inventors, The Australian Design Awards, Wheels Car of the Year Awards and the San Francisco-based Spark Awards.
Sally's Nest highchair, winner of an Australian DesignMark in 2003, is held in the Powerhouse Museum's Permanent Collection and her Rainwater HOG tank was named one of the USA's Top 10 Green Building Products in 2008. In addition to judging international design awards Sally has a particular interest in sustainable vehicle design and reviews cars for Fairfax Media as well as judging Car of the Year for Wheels magazine and Fairfax Media.
Paralleling her design work Sally lectures on Sustainable Design for the NSW Board of Studies and various private schools where her infectious enthusiasm for design and innovation is matched by her working knowledge of what it takes to get an idea off the drawing board. While her own design work is referenced in various design books Sally covers general design innovation for publications including Qantas magazine, Monument and Curve. Sally's own design work is featured in David Cuschieri's book "Top Designer Secrets" and in "Cool Green Hunting".
As well as finessing and producing her own designs Sally is available as a creative mind for hire, and is able to MC events and mastermind Innovation workshops in Australia and the USA. Sally commutes between her San Francisco base and Sydney for regular filming and presentation work. Australian speaking requests should be referred to her agent, Claxton Speakers.
Sally is one of Tourism Australia's "Friends of Australia" and her informal Australia videos can be found on youtube.
